How to create an Offer on your product
“Make an Offer” is an alternative to running an auction on a product. Instead of customers bidding against each other, they submit a private offer for the price they’re willing to pay, and you can accept, decline, or counter it.
Note: Auctions and Make an Offer cannot both be active on the same product at the same time. Each product can either run an auction or have the Make an Offer button — not both.
This article walks you through activating the feature, creating your first offer rule, setting up automation, customizing the widget, configuring emails, and what the widget looks like to your customers.
1. Activate the app block
Before Make an Offer can appear on your storefront, the app block needs to be turned on for your theme.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Auction Today > Dashboard.
- Under App status, make sure Store app embed is On.
- Find Make an Offer block and click Add block to add it to your product page template.

2. Create an offer rule
Offer rules control how Make an Offer behaves on your products — which products it applies to, how many offers a customer can send, and whether offers are automatically accepted or declined.
- From the Auction Today app menu, click Make an Offer.
- Click Create an offer in the top right.

- On the Create an offer page, fill in the Rule overview section:
- Rule Name – a name to help you identify this rule later.
- Start Date Time / End Date Time – when the offer rule becomes active and when it ends.
- Max Offers Per Customer – how many offers one customer can submit on a product.
- Accepted offers limit per product – after this many offers are accepted on a product, Make an Offer is automatically hidden for that product.
- Under Assign Products, choose whether the rule applies to:
- Apply Across Store – every product in your store, or
- Apply on Selected Products – only the products and variants you choose using Add Products.

- Click Save once you’re happy with your rule.
3. Set up automation (auto accept / auto decline)
You don’t have to review every offer manually. Auto accept and auto decline let you automate the easy decisions so you only need to review offers that fall in between.
- Auto accept offer – toggle this on and set an Auto Accept Threshold (as a percentage of the product’s current selling price). Any offer at or above this threshold is accepted automatically, without you needing to review it.
- Auto decline offer – toggle this on and set an Auto Decline Below percentage. Any offer below this percentage of the product’s current selling price is declined automatically before it reaches your Offers list.

Auto accept and auto decline offer settings with threshold percentages
For example, setting Auto Accept Threshold to 80% and Auto Decline Below to 20% means only offers between 20% and 80% of the product’s price will need your manual review.
Offers that fall between your auto accept and auto decline thresholds will show up under View offer requests, where you can accept, decline, or send a counter offer.
4. Customize the widget
You can fully customize how the Make an Offer widget looks and what information it shows on your product pages.
- From the Auction Today app menu, go to Make an Offer > Settings.
- Under Make an offer widget, choose which fields to show or hide:
- Hide minimum offer – hides the minimum accepted offer on the widget.
- Hide your offers – hides how many offers the customer has used.
- Hide start time / Hide end time – hides the offer rule’s start or end time.
- Hide seller reply notice – hides the “seller replies within…” footer text.
- Hide message to seller – hides the optional message field on the storefront widget.
- Set your Header text color, Header background color, Content text color, Content background color, Button background color, and Button text color to match your store’s branding.
- Use the Preview panel on the right to see your changes reflected on the widget before saving.

- Click Save once you’re happy with how the widget looks.
5. Configure email notifications
Each offer rule has its own email settings, so you can tailor the messaging for every instance of Make an Offer you run.
- From an offer rule, go to its Email settings.
- Configure the emails sent to customers for each stage of an offer:
- Offer received – confirms the customer’s offer was submitted.
- Offer accepted – lets the customer know their offer was accepted.
- Offer declined – lets the customer know their offer wasn’t accepted.
- Counter offer sent – notifies the customer when you’ve sent them a counter offer.
- Customize the subject line and content for each email, then click Save.
By following these steps, you’ll be able to activate Make an Offer, create and automate your offer rules, customize the widget to match your brand, and keep customers informed by email at every stage of the offer process.
